2011 Season, Here we come!
Svetec Farms gears up for a great season
As I write, the hum of Big Blue, our tractor can be heard in the distance, even as cars whiz bearing travellers to a much needed cottage sojurn. Though summer may spell
l-e-i-s-u-r-e to some, just ask our staff how busy life is on the farm! I think they might spell summer S-W-E-A-T-Y here at Svetec Farms!
This week, our first sunny one in about six, the team has been racing to plant the transplants that were ... | Continue reading ...

Hello Friends!
Recently, Paul and I attended a huge
Fruits and Vegetables conference at Brock University to be educated and prepared
for our Great Farm Adventure this season at Svetec Farms. Being with over a
thousand farmers, marketers and agricultural business folk is an eye-opening
experience. From the latest scientific ag research to the newest social media
opportunities, Paul and I filled our minds with as much knowledge as we could
cram in (which after... Continue reading ...

in fact, it is the ultimate dinner for our guests when
we serve one of our fresh chickens.

Hello Friends!
We hope your holidays are filled with
warmth and love as you celebrate with family and friends during this precious
but busy season.
This week is Poultry Week here at the
farm. (In case you don't know what that means, it requires driving to Omemee six
times between today and Thurs with or without 8 crates of birds in the back of a
mini-van!)
If you ordered our delicious young
chickens, they will be available fresh Wed evening after 6:30 pm, in
whole or in parts ($... Continue reading ...

Happy New Year!
Hello friends,
I am looking out my window at
snow-covered corn fields, busy dreaming about our upcoming farm season and
wondering how each of you are as we enjoy the thrills and chills of Canadian
winter. Paul is out giving a quote for his new electrical contracting business
and I am supposed to be teaching my small children, but it's Friday afternoon,
so they are watching Looney Tunes and I am writing to you
instead!
This past Christmas was a busy one as I
bak... Continue reading ...

Happy Valentines Day!
On this cold, bright and sunny
Saturday, the house is filled with the sweet aroma of soft molasses cookies,
double chocolate brownies and brown sugar banana bread. It is also cluttered
with gypsum, lumber and errant hardware, as the Great Kitchen Renovation is
underway here at Svetec Farms. Not one to miss out on free opportunities, I
jumped at the offer made by first my dad, and then by my kind brother, Mark, to
widen up our small kitchen. However, now that w... Continue reading ...
