Welcome to the Chicken Adventure - Day 2

    Yesterday was a rough one here on the farm.  When we picked up our day-old ducklings, within hours, 28 of the 100 had died. 5 were already dead in the box, to our disappointment.  Thankfully, the chicks were heartier.  We only lost 1 of the 100. 
    The stress on everyone was quite obvious.  Paul was running around trying to increase the heat levels in the brooder, Kevin was in the house blow-drying chicks and ducklings who had gotten wet from the ...

Chicken Run!

It's a beautiful spring day, the kind of day that expands your insides, with soaring skies, brilliant sunshine, and best of all to us hearty yet winter weary Canadians, melting snow! 
A day full of promise.  A day to be explored. 
A day to let the chickens out.
I guess from a young child's point of view, freedom for chickens should have been a most natural choice, a most natural decision on a day like today.  And what freedom they enjoyed!
